Bring on 2010!

A year ago I made this cake:

I had no idea what I was doing at the time but I knew I had to start somewhere.

One year, 52 weekends (yes they were mostly all booked) and over 150 cakes made, I have grown tremedously!
Thank you for a wonderful year, it has been amazing. I can't believe how well things have taken off, the response is overwhelming at times but I always find a way to get it done. One thing I have definitly learned is to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN (I thought I knew this one, well being a teacher and all) 3 am emergency baking is not fun! And when it comes to a deadline and you're in a jam, people who you never would have thought to call for help, come to the rescue! (Thanks Mom, Col and Mrs. Mossor)

Thank you to all my clients who have let me into your families to celebrate the most precious moments in your life. I feel truly blessed.

2010 will be the year of Sweet Treats, I have a lot of new things in the works, some that have even surprised me! It's such an exciting time and I couldn't be more Thankful!

Enjoy a safe and wonderful New Year!

Ultimate Philadelphia Cake

This cake was made for an Ultimate Phillies Fan for his 30th birthday. We added all the elements that Matt loves, baseball, Cheesesteaks and Guinness. The bottom tier is Vanilla Butter cake with Peanut Butter Fluff and Chocolate Buttercreams, the Baseball Diamond is chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream, while the baseball on top was Vanilla Butter Cake as well.

All decorations are edible.

On top we added the signatures of Matt's wife, kids* ( it should say Joe not Jon, I goofed* Sorry Matt!), and puppy to the baseball!

I got a nice note from Jenn, Matt's wife reguarding the cake:

Jen - your work is great. It is obvious how much time you spend on each cake and the passion you have to make the cake perfect. We absolutely LOVED it!! The cake was amazing! To look at and to eat! Everyone immediately stopped to see the cake when they came in and couldn't stop saying how awesome it looked. And Matt loved it too. The cheesesteak was perfect! Matt and Caitlin shared it ha! Oh and the cake....yum yum yum!! The peanut butter cake was just so delicious!!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! You added such a great piece to Matt's surprise party

Happy Birthday Matt, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Jackpot!

This Slot Machine was created for a friend's mother for her 85th birthday. She loves to gamble in Atlantic City so we thought the best way to represent her personality is to create a slot machine out of cake.

Everything is completely edible. Inside is vanilla pound with traditional chocolate buttercream, covered and decorated with fondant. The coins are chocolate also.

I hope this cake brings you some luck at the slots, Happy Birthday!

Very Thankful

I could not be more thankful for everyone who has supported and encouraged my baking endeavors.Take the time today, and everyday, to thank the people who made a significant difference in your life and continue to be a driving force through-out the year. Happy Thanksgiving, now Let's eat some PIE!

I made a few pies this year, not my best work (I just can't get pies right, plus I was swamped with orders so they were slacking). The pumpkin and coconut were made by me, while the Apple Streusel was made by my wonderful friend Christina. She is a pie Connesuir, her pies are amazing! We have decided to stick with what we are both best at and just trade baked goods for special occasions and that is FINE with me!

We loved it Christina, Thanks!!

80th Birthday Celebration

I was asked to create a Giant Cupcake Tower for a sweet woman's 80th birthday party last week. She had told me she loved fall and fall colors along with christian elements. I did my best to create a masterpiece that represented her as best I could. I was really happy with how it turned out.

This was my biggest single order to date: 225 cupcakes with a Topper cake. Many, many  hours of work but it was all worth it. Thanks to my mom and my uncle who helped make this delivery possible. (it had to travel to MD).

Here is the Cutting cake, without the "80" topper.

After the event Jo-ann,The birthday girl, emailed me and had this to say:

Boyoboy!! What a party! Everything was wonderful and your cake was the centerpiece of everything. Everyone just stared and stared and many exclaimed what a good idea it was. It was simply beautiful and it tasted just as wonderful as it looked. I wasn't very specific with you as to what I wanted, but you just seemed to read my mind and everything was just gorgeous.

We put the cake in the center of the room all by itself on a raised round table. Wow! What a picture it made! Thanks for all your efforts and the beauty you created.

Happy Birthday Joann, I am so Glad you liked it.

Have a SWEET Halloween

Halloween is one of my Favorite Holidays. Ever Since I can remember I always had a hand in making my costumes along with my mom and grandmom. This year my costume was a toast to my dear grandmother who passed earlier this year. She taught me how to bake and sew. She would have really gotten a kick out of this one!

After searching online for a fun costume I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a Cupcake Costume all my own. After hours of sewing, gluing and stuffing with burns all over my fingers, the creation was a masterpiece, Well Kinda! haha
Unfortunately, not much movement was made once inside, and it's not the best for crowded places but it was still fun!
I painted my face like a fairy because I just love Face-paint and it makes me feel like a kid again!

Advertisement on the back. One day when I have my own shop, I will make my employees wear this and hand out cupcakes on the street! haha

Happy Halloween!!

Mr and Mrs. Panek

My first wedding was done as a gift for two great friends of Randy and I. The design was months in the making and it ended up exceeding both mine and Erin's expectations. The cupcake tree was made up of 100 cupcakes in assorted flavors including: Strawberry Cheesecake, Orange Creamsicle, Oreo Cookies and Cream, and Pumpkin Cream Cheese. The flowers on top of the cupcakes and cutting cake were made of fondant and purely edible. The decorative flowers are all fresh flowers used to complete the design.

6" top Cutting Cake for the Couple to taste together. (No smashing here! It was too pretty to get messy)

To the new Mr. and Mrs. Panek, may your beers be hoppy and your cupcakes always sweet. Here's to a wonderful new life together, we love you both!

Rowing on Empty!

Well, Rowing on Empty Full, made an impressive finish in 2nd place with a 0.02 finish that separated us from first place. After a long, hard struggle, we pulled through and made it to the end "out of nowhere" as the commentator would say. It was the first year we participated in this event and it was a tremendous showing. We hope to be able to be a top contender next year but as of now, it was the cupcakes that got us through the last leg of the race! (Or that's just what I tell myself!)

It was a great day for racing, and an even better day for Cupcakes!

Thanks for all my support!
